It has been 3 weeks since papa and mama gone.
I miss papa and mama…

Today grandma Lucia comes to visit. She is crying for some reason.

Grandma Lucia says that papa and mama will not come home for a long time. She says that I must live with her from now on.

I don’t understand.

I have to stay and wait for papa and mama. If I live with grandma Lucia, who will sweep the floor and wipe the windows?

But grandma Lucia looks so sad. I guess I have to take Sebastian with me and go with her for now. I wonder if papa and mama will be angry again…

Dear diary,

It has been 2 weeks since papa and mama gone. That is weird. Papa and mama are taking longer than usual. But I am a good boy. I will wait for papa and mama.

I will clean the house as usual. I always eat at grandma Lucia’s place so the dishes in our house are a little dusty. I wonder why there is dust. They are so annoying. I have to wash everything again.

I feel sad.
I don’t feel like eating.

Today the big children from grandma Lucia’s place come to visit. Maybe they are worried since I don’t visit for breakfast and lunch. Colbert and Peter give me a lot of berries to cheer me up. I like berries but I don’t think I can finish 3 baskets in a day, so we eat the berries together. Amanda says that papa and mama should be home soon. I wish she is right.

I miss papa and mama…

Dear diary,

It has been a week and papa and mama should be home. I didn’t worry. Papa and mama used to be heroes.

But I don’t have bread anymore. I throw away the bread that has bite marks. Since mama says not to eat them, I am a good boy after all. I am hungry. So I go to grandma Lucia’s place to eat. I always eat at grandma Lucia when I don’t have food anymore.

Grandma Lucia has a lot of grandchildren; I think she has about 20 grandchildren. Peter is fast and he often takes me to the forest to find berries. Colbert is strong and he often let me ride on his shoulder. Amanda is smart and she reads to the other smaller children. I can read too, so I help Amanda read. I don’t like reading the Hero of Alcatar with Amanda. I always become the dragon in the story.

I like grandma Lucia’s place. The house is white and big like the castles in the stories. There are a lot of vegetables growing in the garden. There is a big sign in front of the house, I think it is written as “orphanage”. I don’t know how to read it. It has too many consonants.

I love grandma Lucia’s place, but I like my house more.

So I go back home before it is dark…

Dear diary,

Today papa and mama should be home. Maybe they find something along the way? Or maybe they are making my brother? Yes, I have chosen that I want a brother.

Today I find rats in our bread stockpile. Mama used to say that I can’t eat the bread if the rats bit it. I don’t understand. Rats are cute. But mama always screams when she sees one.

But papa and mama are not here yet. I should wait and ask mama when she comes home.

Dear diary,

Today mama explains that papa and mama are going to be a merchan. I don’t know how to write that word but it sounds so cool. Mama says that it is just as important as adfentulel. Papa says that adventulel fights monsters and merchen brings food to people. Some people don’t eat food every day, so papa and mama want to bring food to them. Since papa and mama still help other people, they are still my hero.

Tomorrow papa and mama will go to Arun city to be a merchen. Papa says that they will come home in 3 days. I am a good boy so I will wait for them. Papa and mama always leave me alone for weeks so 3 days isn’t as lonely. Mama reminds me to walk Sebastian around the house. Mama is so silly. I always walk Sebastian because Sebastian is my friend. Sebastian is stinky but he is my friend.

But he stinks.

 

I can’t wait for them to come home…
